Wayne Rooney’s family was seen arriving at Old Trafford last night, just hours before the news broke of his departure as manager of Plymouth Argyle. His wife, Coleen, 38, was accompanied by their four children—Kai, 14, Klay, 11, Kit, eight, and Cass, six.
The family bundled up in warm coats strolled through the car park ahead of the Premier League match. Eldest son Kai later shared their view from the stands on Instagram, tagging Old Trafford as the location. They attended the match where Manchester United fell 2-0 to Newcastle, Rooney’s former club.
This morning, Rooney parted ways with Plymouth Argyle after seven months in charge. He was appointed in May but leaves the club at the bottom of the Championship, four points from safety. His final game as manager was a 2-0 defeat against fellow strugglers Oxford.
A statement from the club confirmed that Rooney and the club had mutually agreed to part ways immediately. Assistant head coach Mike Phelan and first-team coach Simon Ireland will also leave, while Kevin Nancekivell and club captain Joe Edwards will take charge for the upcoming match against Bristol City on New Year’s Day.
The statement expressed gratitude for Rooney and his team’s efforts and mentioned that no further comments would be made at this time, with updates about new management to follow.
Additionally, Rooney recently addressed rumors regarding a video that allegedly showed him bringing a mystery woman to his flat, firmly stating that the claims were “simply not true.”
