Football player Marcus Rashford of Manchester United and the England national team has launched the ‘In-the-Box’ campaign to raise funds for three homeless charities in Manchester: Barnabus, Centrepoint, and Lifeshare.
The public is encouraged to fill shoeboxes with essential items to be distributed to adults in need during the holiday season. The box drop, in collaboration with Selfridges Manchester Exchange (1, Exchange Square Central, Corporation St, Manchester, M3 1BD), will be open from 12:00 to 18:00, Monday through Sunday, located on the first floor in the menswear department.
In a previous holiday season, Rashford shared, “With my family’s help, I wrapped and distributed several gift boxes for those in need throughout Manchester. It was one of the most satisfying experiences of the year, and I wanted this year’s activities to reach a larger audience. I’m thrilled to partner with Selfridges Manchester Exchange for Christmas 2023.”
He expressed his desire to give back to his hometown, saying, “This is my chance to help those who might not have the best Christmas. I’m incredibly proud of the support I’ve received over the years and hope many will join in so we can make a significant impact together.”
Lifeshare Trustee Robin Toal remarked, “We’re thrilled that Marcus Rashford has chosen to support Lifeshare, Centrepoint, and Barnabus with his exciting ‘In-the-Box’ campaign. His support this Christmas will truly help those who are homeless or in poverty.”
Rashford is dedicated to making a difference for Manchester’s homeless population and encourages everyone to contribute.
