Marcus Rashford, a star for Manchester United, has been enjoying Christmas dinner with his family while facing uncertainty regarding his future.
He shared a photo on Instagram featuring himself and his family, captioning it: “Family time – Happy Christmas everyone.”
The 27-year-old forward has been rumored to be leaving United after losing favor under Ruben Amorim.
Amorim, who began his tenure as United’s manager in November, has excluded Rashford from his last three matchday squads—against Manchester City, Tottenham, and Bournemouth.
In a surprising interview last week, Rashford, who has spent his entire career at United, suggested he is ready for a new challenge.
This prompted Amorim to imply that it wasn’t Rashford’s choice to give the interview, questioning the influence of his entourage.
Marcus Rashford celebrated Christmas dinner with family amidst uncertainty about his future.
The Man United star has been left out of the last three matchday squads by Ruben Amorim.
Amorim implied Rashford was misadvised by his entourage regarding his desire to leave.
Amorim stated: “It is a tough situation. I recognize that these players have many people around them, who may sometimes lead to decisions that aren’t the player’s initial choice. I get it; I can separate matters.
“I’m always here to support Marcus, just like any other player. They decided to do the interview because it’s not just Marcus. I understand that.”
Speaking to Sky Sports, Amorim added: “As a coach, I concentrate on performance and how he trains. The rest is for me and the club to manage when the time arrives.
“Right now, I’m focused on enhancing Marcus. We need a talented player like him at this time. I’ll forget the interview and focus on what I see on the pitch.”
Amorim revealed that Rashford wants to get back on the field for United, asserting that it is his choice to keep him out.
The United boss maintained that he knows what he’s doing regarding Rashford’s exclusion from the squad.
Amorim commented: “Yes, it’s my choice. He wants to play. He’s trying. This decision is solely mine.
“There’s no other situation. When I believe it’s the right time, I’ll make a change. Until then, I will keep considering what’s best for the team.
“I’ve spoken with many players individually during training, so I’m trying to do things my way—that’s the only way I know. If I don’t, I’ll lose my direction, and I won’t allow that. I know what I’m doing.”
