Manchester United reduced the gap on Champions League slots to four points with a 4-0 Premier League victory over Everton at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The Red Devils made a poor start to the game, and the Toffees were the better side for the first 30 minutes. Regardless, they were unable to open the scoring.
Marcus Rashford scored United’s first goal in the 34th minute. His attempt on aim deflected dramatically off Jarrad Branthwaite.
Joshua Zirkzee extended United’s lead before the break. Rashford and Zirkzee added to their tally, securing a 4-0 victory over Everton.
Amad Diallo was unquestionably the standout, although Lisandro Martinez on the left side of the back three also performed admirably.
The Argentine ace has impressed in his new defensive position. He was superb with his delivery and made numerous clearances during the game.
Martinez totaled 103 touches in 90 minutes. He completed 89 of 93 passes with a 96% accuracy rate. He also recorded five clearances and four recoveries.
Despite the positives, the £42 million-rated player will be unable to face Arsenal on Wednesday night.
He received an unfortunate yellow card in the second half against Everton. It was his fifth booking of the season, which carries a one-game penalty.
His absence should allow Luke Shaw to play more minutes. Since returning from injury last month, the Englishman has trained as a left center-back under Amorim.
Aside from Martinez, United will be missing Kobbie Mainoo after he received five yellow cards.
Manuel Ugarte might team up with Casemiro in the center of the park against Arsenal on the road.
If Amorim chooses to play Mason Mount or Alejandro Garnacho in attack, Bruno Fernandes might replace Casemiro.
