Manchester United are reportedly interested in Matheus Cunha following the forward’s excellent run at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
According to the latest rumors, Manchester United is monitoring Cunha’s growth and could make a move for him in the future. The striker has already scored seven goals and provided three assists in 13 Premier League games this season, impressing Ruben Amorim and United’s recruitment department.
However, if United makes contact with Cunha, he will face stiff competition.
TBR Football reports that Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Newcastle United, and Napoli are also fans of the Brazilian.
Wolves are ‘conscious’ of the growing interest in their talisman, who can play as a centre forward, central offensive midfielder, or left winger, but will reject any January approaches for him.
The Wolves leadership has informed manager Gary O’Neil that no important players will be sold this winter as they aim to improve from 17th place in the Premier League.
This means Cunha’s teammate Rayan Ait-Nouri, who is also garnering interest from top clubs, will remain at Molineux
Cunha’s potential transfer to United has piqued the interest of pundits. They were advised to sign him in June.
Louis Saha, their former striker, described the 25-year-old as a ‘terrific’ youngster who has the potential to go further at a large club like United.
Cunha will most likely be overjoyed that United is interested in signing him. Cunha was videotaped earlier this year being queried by a buddy about a prospective move to Old Trafford.
He said, “You know, it’s a wonderful pleasure to have your name associated with Manchester United, one of the world’s biggest teams.
“But I’m pleased with Wolves. “If I’m lucky, I’ll have another good season, but the window is open; you never know [laughs].”
Cunha ended up staying with Wolves throughout the summer, and a January transfer appears improbable.
But Cunha has so far enjoyed the ‘good season’ he was hoping for and this could result in a massive move in summer 2025.
Only four players in the Premier League this season have scored more goals than Cunha: Erling Haaland, Mo Salah, Bryan Mbeumo, and Chris Wood.
The former Atletico Madrid player was a standout in Wolves’ 4-1 win over Fulham on Saturday.
He scored two fantastic goals at Craven Cottage, the second of which was a magnificent first-time shot into the top corner from outside the box. Cunha can also set up his teammates, like he did for Brazilian compatriot Joao Gomes that day.
