David de Gea, the former Manchester United goalkeeper, continued his outstanding start at Fiorentina with an unbelievable quadruple save in the Italian side’s victory over Como.
The Spaniard left United after 12 seasons in the summer of 2023, having been ruled out by former manager Erik ten Hag despite winning the Golden Glove in his final season.
He was succeeded by Andre Onana, who spent a year off as a free agent before joining Fiorentina in the summer.
The 33-year-old has been enjoying a career resurrection in Italy, securing the number one spot following a string of first-class performances.
He once again inspired Fiorentina to victory on Sunday night, making three superb saves to keep his sixth clean sheet of the season as La Viola defeated Como 2-0.
De Gea’s heroics kept his side one point behind league leaders Napoli and extended their winning streak to seven games, as Serie A remains Europe’s most hotly contested competition.

With 61 minutes gone and his team leading 1-0 thanks to a first-half goal from Yacine Adli, De Gea demonstrated his incredible shot-stopping ability to keep La Viola ahead.
He initially got down to make a fantastic save on Edoardo Goldaniga, who latched onto the end of a beautiful floating cross into the box.
The ball then fell nicely to defender Federico Barba in acres of space, but the former United goalkeeper produced excellent reactions to stop him before hooking away a third effort on the line.
Just eight minutes later, former Everton striker Moise Kean scored, propelling Fiorentina to fourth place in Serie A.
Raffaele Palladino, the Italian side’s manager, was taken aback by De Gea’s incredible saves, which show he is the same age he was when he left Atletico Madrid for the Red Devils in 2011.
‘We are Beltran, chasing down opponents and running like a defender. We are Riccardo Sottil, who comes on and makes a difference. We are De Gea, making reaction saves like he’s 20,” Palladino told DAZN.
‘Despite all of this, we have yet to achieve anything. There is a sense of solidarity, and a wonderful team spirit has been developed. I dedicate the victory to the President, whose birthday is tomorrow.
The performance adds to his impressive collection since joining La Viola on free transfer.
The former Manchester United shot-stopper made two penalty saves against AC Milan last month.
De Gea’s performances have played a crucial role in Fiorentina’s seven-match winning streak.
In October, De Gea made two penalty saves in a single game to preserve an important victory over AC Milan.
He denied former Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham and Theo Hernandez from the penalty spot in each half of a tense game that saw three penalty saves and two red cards.
He became the first goalie to make two penalty saves in a single Serie A match since Federico Marchetti for Lazio in May 2016.
