Lee Carsley dropped Rashford from the England squad, and the 27-year-old traveled to New York to witness the Knicks play the Brooklyn Nets in the NBA Cup.

He had a prime courtside seat at Madison Square Garden for the thrilling game, in which the Knicks defeated their crosstown rivals 124-122.

However, not all Manchester United fans were pleased by his visit. Rashford has endured criticism this season for lackluster performances on the pitch, and his attendance at the NBA game prompted ire from some fans, who urged the forward to focus on improving his form for United rather than watching basketball.

And the boyhood United star is determined to stay with the team under Amorim, having posted a photo of himself training alone at an unnamed location.

Rashford was seen sitting on a treadmill in the middle of a training area, surrounded by boxing and other equipment. According to reports, the footballer was in Nike’s official headquarters.

He has been with the sportswear giant since the age of 11 and recently extended his contract till 2021 following suggestions that he could join rivals Puma.

Rashford will return to United next week when the rest of his teammates return from international duty, hoping to fit into Amorim’s system, with the 39-year-old coach planning to use his typical 3-4-3 shape.
