Ruben Amorim visits Old Trafford for the first time as new Manchester United boss to receive a behind-the-scenes tour of his new home field

Ruben Amorim made his first visit to Old Trafford as Manchester United’s new manager.

Amorim joins the club following a successful tenure at Sporting Clube de Portugal in his home Portugal, where he won two league titles and three domestic cups in four and a half seasons.

Following Erik ten Hag’s dismissal the previous week, Amorim swiftly emerged as the leading candidate to replace the Dutchman, with United acting rapidly to secure his services.

Amorim has brought along a lot of his own coaches and backroom staff members, and he is already preparing for his first encounter following the international break.

He arrived at United for his first official day as head coach on Monday, but with the majority of the squad away on international duty, he has had few opportunities to visit Old Trafford.

However, he was officially photographed at the stadium this week while on a tour of it.

Amorim was given a tour of the ground, which he had previously visited during his playing career.

Amorim had previously played at Old Trafford, for both Benfica and Braga, but this week’s visit had a different atmosphere.

Amorim was photographed in a variety of spots around the renowned United stadium, with the pitch floodlights blazing on what will undoubtedly be a memorable day for the 39-year-old.

He was led to the press area, where he posed for photos on the sidelines of the pitch while also glancing at photos of others who came before him.

The new head coach has already met with some of his players, many of whom have not been called up to their respective national teams.

Earlier this week, he was spotted hugging Mason Mount and Kobbie Mainoo, joking with Leny Yoro, and speaking with academy product Toby Collyer.

As the seventh permanent head coach since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure, Amorim faces a significant job in trying to right the ship and return United to the peak of English football.

However, he has already earned a vote of confidence from his new captain, Bruno Fernandes, who identified a feature that he believes will benefit Amorim.

Fernandes told MUTV: ‘What sticks out for me is his connection with the players.

‘When the manager leaves your club in the middle of the season with all the things they still need to win, you see how they say goodbye to him, how they make him feel like a part of the team, and how they treat him, it shows he’s a great character and someone who gives his all to the players.’
