PERFECT DUO: England stars Cole Palmer and Kobbie Mainoo pose in GQ’s Men of the Year edition, following breakthrough campaigns for Manchester United and Chelsea

COLE PALMER quipped that he usually “just wears trackies” after dressed to impress for a GQ photoshoot.

The 22-year-old Chelsea star donned some glad rags alongside another England talent and Manchester native Kobbie Mainoo.

The pair dressed in major fashion labels such as Burberry, Dior, and Louis Vuitton for the interview in a London studio, wearing a variety of vibrant blazers, sweaters, and denim.

However, after finishing their conversations and photos in the pricey and outrageous clothing, Palmer remarked that he was significantly more comfortable in his casual attire.

He stated, “I just wear trackies.”

Mainoo, who is more accustomed to high-end menswear companies such as Enfants Riches Deprimes, Chrome Hearts, and Bottega, was quick to try to give his new friend some credit.

He said, “I’ve seen you in jeans, bro.”

Palmer, on the other hand, isn’t scared to spend his money.

The £130,000-a-week man stated that following his first England cap, he purchased a platinum and ice-blue Rolex Daytona watch.

And then he purchased a £190,000 Lamborghini, a long cry from his Wythenshawe origins.

But Palmer hasn’t forgotten his roots, as he recently returned to his former youth clubs to gift footwear.

Palmer recalled: “When you’re growing up, you don’t have much, do you understand?Image

Despite growing up in Manchester, Palmer and Mainoo didn’t become friends until Euro 2024.

Palmer replaced Mainoo with 20 minutes remaining in the final against Spain, scoring the equalizing goal that had every England supporter dreaming of what could have been, before both men were hauled in for drug testing.

Despite the fact that most people remember the goal, the Chelsea forward admitted he has no idea what happened.

Palmer has grown from strength to strength since his £40 million move from Manchester City to Stamford Bridge, becoming an important component under Mauricio Pochettino and now Enzo Maresca.

He started the season with seven goals and five assists in his first nine Premier League outings.

Despite playing the entire 90 minutes of Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal, he and eight other players withdrew from England’s Nations League team, provoking an angry reaction from captain Harry Kane.

Palmer, on the other hand, is in desperate need of a break, specifically the return of the winter break.

When asked about the January break, he replied in an interview with GQ Magazine, “Yeah.” The more breaks, the better.

“People will start getting injured more.”

Mainoo agreed: “It’s a crazy amount of games.”

Instead, he quit, and it paid off when he achieved his own breakthrough.

Palmer explained the deadline-day transfer to Chelsea, saying: “I remember practicing at City on a Wednesday afternoon, and the news was ‘they’re trying to arrange a fee’.

“Every time the ball went out I’d ask the kit man or the doctor if they’ve agreed to the fee yet.”

“I didn’t get to see many folks and tell them I was leaving. I just needed to collect my stuff.

“I messaged the group chat, saying, ‘Thanks for everything. I’m gone. “That was it.”
