WHAT HAPPENED?
Eder Militao will be out of action for Real Madrid for the rest of the 2024-25 season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in Saturday’s 4-0 win over Osasuna. The Brazilian centre-back was stretchered off and has since been confirmed to be out for the next nine months. With the defender ruled out for the season, former Los Blancos star Guti has backed Sergio Ramos to return to the Santiago Bernabeu as a free agent, but according to AS, the club have no intention of bringing the Spain legend back.

THE BIG PICTURE
The report says the club’s management have doubts over the 38-year-old’s current fitness, having not played a single competitive game since leaving Sevilla at the end of the 2023-24 season. As a result, the Spanish champions have deemed the move “impossible” and will wait until January to make a new deal rather than let the player go on a free transfer at this stage.
