Didier Deschamps has decided not to call up Kylian Mbappe to the France squad for this November’s training camp, marking the second consecutive time the Real Madrid star has been left out of the squad.
It is worth noting that Kylian Mbappe is currently completely healthy and has just played the full 90 minutes in Real Madrid’s 1-3 home defeat to AC Milan in the Champions League. Despite being named captain of the French team ahead of Euro 2024, the 25-year-old has not returned to play for the national team since September. Mbappe was also not included in the French squad’s October call-up.
During the press conference announcing the squad, coach Deschamps shared his decision to remove Mbappe. Initially, he briefly stated that this was necessary for the team. However, to clear up any doubts, Deschamps went into more detail and affirmed that Mbappe’s exclusion was not related to any “abuse of power” issues.

“I had discussions with Kylian Mbappe and this time I chose to leave him out,” Deschamps explained . “I can tell you two things: One, Kylian Mbappe wanted to be called up, and two, the decision had nothing to do with off-field issues. It was a choice I made for this international break, with two games ahead of us. It was my decision, it was better this way.”
Without Mbappe in the squad, Deschamps still has many options for the attack such as Michael Olise, Christopher Nkunku, Ousmane Dembele, Bradley Barcola, Marcus Thuram and Randal Kolo Muani.
Recently, French newspaper Foot Mercato reported that Mbappe had informed the national team coaching staff that he only wanted to play in important matches for his country. This is the reaction of many stars to the tight and intense match schedule. Even Rodri, who just won the Ballon d’Or, expressed that the players may have to go on strike if the situation does not improve.
With the current situation, Kylian Mbappe’s absence continues to attract attention and raises many opinions about the tension between the player and the national team.
