Onana’s abilities were on full display today in Istanbul, as he stopped striker Youssef En-Nesyri twice in a matter of seconds to maintain United ahead – before the away side lost their lead in the second half.

First, he got down low to palm away a bullet header that bounced just before his glove, much to the surprise of the centre-forward, who thought his effort was on goal.

Ten Hag was delighted despite surrendering the lead in a 1-1 draw at Fenerbahce.

Jose Mourinho’s side attempted to claw their way back into the game, with former Newcastle trickster Allan Saint-Maximin looking his usual deadly self down the right flank.

However, Ugarte’s intervention, as well as Andre Onana’s superb double save, allowed under-pressure Erik ten Hag to give a half-time team talk with his side ahead.

Fenerbahce’s perseverance paid off, though, as former Newcastle player Allan Saint-Maximin floated in a beautiful cross from the left that landed perfectly on the head of En-Nesyri, giving them a well-deserved equaliser.
