Mason Greenwood scored again in Marseille’s 5-0 victory over Montpellier. 

Greenwood joined the French giants this summer from Manchester United on a permanent £30 million deal. 

He scored five goals in his first three outings for the club, but then went four games without scoring or assisting.

Greenwood’s recent goal comes as news surfaced that he wanted to meet with Thomas Tuchel and the Football Association to explore a possible return to the England national squad.

He is keen to be a part of Tuchel’s administration in order to compete in the 2026 World Cup, and if barred, he will switch allegiance to Jamaica, according to The Sun. 

The Bradford-born striker is eligible to play for the Caribbean nation because of his paternal grandparents. 

According to The Sun, Mason understands that his chances of playing for England again are limited. However, he wants to consult with the FA and Tuchel now that he has been hired to see what they believe.

‘He is determined to perform at the top level, which includes the World Cup.

‘So if England don’t want him, he’ll move to Jamaica and try to qualify for the 2026 World Cup that way.’

Gareth Southgate never ruled out Greenwood returning in the future, but admitted throughout his legal case that including him was not a ‘consideration’.
