It contains songs in English and French titled The Friends We Lost, Tu Me Diras, I’ll Make My Own Heaven, and Je Veux.

During his playing career, the Manchester United icon received criticism for kicking an opposing fan and insulting France’s national coach.

After retiring in 1997, Cantona pursued a career in theatre, film, and painting.

He has now composed several songs and will begin his tour later this month.

The former forward will go on a five-date tour of Manchester, London, and Dublin.

Cantona described his passion for music writing as follows: “Writing is a method for me to exist, because only my presence allows me to write in this manner.

“Why start now, so many years later? I simply didn’t have the time before.

“During lockdown, I finally gave the guitar a serious try, and even though I’m still a bad guitarist, I felt confident enough to whip a few songs into shape.”

“I’ll start with Manchester since it’s a city that has left a lasting impression on me. For football, of course, but also for the overall atmosphere.”

The next tour will not be a one-time event, as the Manchester United icon plans to perform with a “modest piano and cello” next year.

Cantona established his reputation with Leeds before joining United for £1 million in 1992.

Throughout his five difficult years at Old Trafford, he won four Premier League titles and two FA Cups.
