Raphael Varane, a Como defender, is reportedly mulling retirement after his latest injury.
The World Cup winner signed with the newly promoted Italian team as a free agent after his contract with Manchester United terminated this summer.
The 31-year-old made 95 appearances for United before announcing his departure in May of this year.
Varane made his Como debut in the Coppa Italia against Sampdoria last month, but was forced to leave after only 20 minutes due to an injury.
It was then discovered that the centre-back suffered a knee injury and was finally left out of Cesc Fabregas’ Serie A team due to his predicted long-term absence.
Raphael Varane is allegedly mulling a surprising retirement following his most recent injury.
Varane had a dreadful start for Como after being pulled due to injury.
The defender was later spotted with strapping and an ice pack applied to his leg.
After 14 years of top-level competition, the World Cup champion is expected to make a choice soon.
Varane progressed through the youth divisions at Ligue 1 Lens before joining Real Madrid at the age of 18 in 2011.
He went on to make 360 appearances for the Spanish giants, winning three La Liga crowns, four Champions Leagues, and a Copa del Rey, among other accolades, over a decade.
The Frenchman joined Manchester United in 2021 and demonstrated his talent despite being limited by injury during his three years at Old Trafford.
Varane also made 93 appearances for France, starting in their 2018 World Cup victory, until retiring from international football in 2022.
His final game in a United shirt saw him hoist the FA Cup, starting the 2-1 win over Manchester City at Wembley.
