Mo Salah has dropped a significant hint that he might leave Liverpool at the end of the current season. Speaking after Liverpool’s impressive 3-0 victory over Manchester United, Salah, whose contract is set to expire next summer, suggested that this could be his final year at Anfield.
Salah’s future has been a topic of speculation, especially following Al-Ittihad’s eye-watering £200 million bid last summer, accompanied by an offer of £100 million per year for the Egyptian winger. Despite the massive offer, Liverpool and then-manager Jürgen Klopp were resolute in keeping Salah at the club.
Now, Salah himself seems to be fueling the speculation. In his post-match comments, he stated, “I had a good summer, I had a long time to stay with myself and try and think positive because as you know it’s my last year in the club. I just want to enjoy it and I don’t want to think about it. I feel I am free to play football and we will see what happens next year.”
He further elaborated to Sky Sports, saying, “Nobody has talked to me yet about [a] contract so I am just like ‘I will play my last season and we will see at the end of the season.’ It is not up to me but nobody has talked to me from the club but we will see.”
Salah has started the season strongly, contributing three goals and three assists in Liverpool’s perfect run of three wins. As he enjoys a stellar season, the uncertainty over his future adds another layer of intrigue to Liverpool’s campaign.
