Diogo Jota might just see himself as a future zookeeper after his stint with exotic animals in Dubai, but Liverpool’s Alisson Becker might have a few words to say about that. While many players enjoyed a typical winter break, Jota made a splash by visiting Rashed Belhasa’s exclusive zoo, renowned for its collection of rare creatures and celebrity guests.
Jota’s Instagram feed shows him reveling in the experience: striking a pose with a massive bear, wrapping an enormous snake around his neck, feeding a giraffe, handling a baby crocodile, and being mobbed by monkeys.
Alisson, not one to miss an opportunity for a playful jab, cheekily commented on Jota’s post with “Dr Dolittle ,” referencing the fictional character known for conversing with animals.
Jota’s visit aligns with a trend of high-profile visitors to Belhasa’s zoo, including Chelsea’s Reece James and Mason Mount last year, and past attendees like Paul Pogba, Luka Modric, David Luiz, and Lionel Messi.
While Jota clearly enjoyed his downtime, he’s eager to hit the ground running for the season’s finale. With Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane away at the Africa Cup of Nations, Jota has stepped up impressively, scoring twice in Liverpool’s 2-0 Carabao Cup semi-final win against Arsenal, and bringing his season tally to 14 goals in 28 games.
The recent £50 million acquisition of Luis Diaz from Porto could introduce new competition for Jota’s spot, as the Reds secured Diaz after beating Tottenham to his signature.
