Liverpool is already monitoring the fitness of Curtis Jones and Alexis Mac Allister ahead of their match against Nottingham Forest this Saturday. However, it seems that Elliott will also be sidelined for a significant period.
The Times reports that Elliott injured his foot while on duty with England’s Under-21 squad. Although he didn’t participate in the Under-21s’ games against Northern Ireland and Austria—results of 0-0 and 4-1 respectively—he returned to Liverpool after complaining of discomfort.
It is expected that the 21-year-old will be out for around six weeks, missing several key fixtures for Liverpool.
The club has yet to officially confirm Elliott’s injury, which is particularly untimely as Liverpool gears up for their Champions League debut against AC Milan next Tuesday.
New manager Arne Slot has enjoyed a flawless start at Anfield, with his team yet to concede a goal. Slot appears to have seamlessly picked up where Jurgen Klopp left off, impressing with his immediate impact.
Elliott had previously praised Slot’s integration, noting, “There’s a strong connection between the staff and the players. We’re all aligned in our goals and pushing towards them. They’re dedicated to helping us become the best we can be.”
He continued, “We need to trust in his approach and the tactical insights he provides. He’s in charge now, and we’re hopeful he can guide us to success.”
