Galatasaray is said to be eager to bring Casemiro in on loan from Manchester United.
The Brazilian midfielder was pulled at halftime during United’s 3-0 drubbing by Liverpool on Sunday, having been partly responsible for both of Liverpool’s goals in the first half. Casemiro, 32, was substituted for 20-year-old Toby Collyer.
The Turkish powerhouse is reportedly ready to offer Casemiro a potential exit route, should he be interested.
With the Super Lig transfer window open until September 13, journalist Ali Naci Kucuk reveals that Galatasaray has reached out to Casemiro about a possible transfer. They are said to have started discussions with Manchester United regarding a loan deal for the season.
However, Manchester United may be reluctant to let Casemiro leave without securing a replacement first. Although they signed Manuel Ugarte on deadline day, manager Erik ten Hag has suggested it might take months for Ugarte to be fully match-fit. This would leave Kobbie Mainoo and the untested Collyer as the primary defensive midfield options. Collyer did show promise during his limited time on the pitch against Liverpool.
Should Casemiro depart in the coming days, United might explore the free agent market for a replacement. Adrien Rabiot could be an option, but his age and past difficulties with his agent could present challenges.
Premier League teams need to finalize their squad lists by September 13 but can still sign unattached players until then.
Galatasaray has already capitalized on Turkey’s extended transfer window, recently acquiring Victor Osimhen on loan after his moves to Chelsea and Al-Ahli fell through. The Nigerian forward was enthusiastically welcomed by fans upon his arrival in Turkey.
