Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed on his personal page that Manchester United has finalized a deal to sign Sekou Kone, a promising teenage talent from Mali.
As Manchester United intensifies its activity in the summer 2024 transfer window, particularly in its final stages, the club has already clinched a deal for midfielder Manuel Ugarte at €60 million. Ugarte is currently undergoing medical checks in England before officially joining the team at Old Trafford.
Despite Manuel Ugarte’s imminent introduction, Fabrizio Romano has also revealed that Manchester United has reached an agreement for the acquisition of Sekou Kone, a highly-regarded 18-year-old from Mali. Romano shared on X:
“All documentation is set for Sekou Kone, born in 2006, to complete his transfer to Manchester United. According to my sources, United has finalized the paperwork, and the announcement will come within the next 24 hours. This is a move for the future.”
Kone, who is being signed from Guidars FC, had also caught the attention of clubs like Crystal Palace, Wolverhampton, and Red Bull Salzburg, but Manchester United has secured his commitment.
The young midfielder made a notable impact at last year’s U17 World Cup, where he earned praise for his composed performances despite Mali’s semifinal exit to France. His contributions were instrumental in Mali’s third-place finish, where they defeated Argentina.
