Barcelona has made a bold move to secure Liverpool midfielder Stefan Bajcetic, intensifying their pursuit with a substantial offer just before the transfer deadline.
With only two days remaining in the transfer window, Barcelona has presented a significant loan proposal for the young Spanish talent, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The deal includes a loan fee of $4.4 million (£3.4 million/€4 million), but notably lacks a purchase option.
Liverpool faces a shortage of defensive midfielders, and the club has been contemplating the possibility of loaning out the 19-year-old Bajcetic. After a challenging season plagued by injury, Bajcetic has been working to regain full fitness but has found limited playing time under new manager Arne Slot during pre-season.
While Red Bull Salzburg, led by former Liverpool assistant coach Pep Lijnders, has shown serious interest in bringing Bajcetic on board, Barcelona is now making a last-minute push to secure his services. Additionally, several Spanish clubs, including Bajcetic’s previous team Celta Vigo, have also expressed interest in a season-long loan. Celta Vigo’s coach, Claudio Giralde, recently hinted at the possibility of Bajcetic’s return.
Given his standout performances amid Liverpool’s injury crisis during the 2022-23 season, it’s not surprising that Bajcetic is in high demand.
