JBL and Vivendii are rolling out a groundbreaking fashion line that delves into the vibrant realm of Afrobeats. The new Afrobeats Capsule Collection, a collaboration between Vivendii and JBL, combines Vivendii’s signature gradient and tie-dye styles with JBL’s bold, eye-catching hues. Inspired by traditional Nigerian plastic buckets and bowls, as well as JBL’s distinctive orange, this collection fuses cultural heritage with modern flair.
The collection features a lineup of streetwear essentials, including a t-shirt, tracksuit, jacket, and bag, plus a striped football jersey as a nod to Virgil van Dijk and the rising trend of personalized jerseys. Adding to the collection’s appeal are limited-edition versions of popular JBL products like the JBL PartyBox 310 and JBL Charge 5 Wi-Fi.
Why this drop? “Music and fashion are deeply intertwined. Afrobeats encourages free self-expression, and collaborating with Virgil van Dijk, who is a fan of the genre, has been an exciting journey for us. Vivendii’s dedication to showcasing diverse voices and cultures aligns perfectly with JBL’s ethos,” noted Robert-Jan van Dormael, Vice President of Integrated Marketing EMEA at HARMAN.
Jimmy Ayeni from Vivendii added, “Our collections always come with a musical soundtrack, and this partnership with JBL is no different. We aim to reflect our musical identity through our fashion.”
A short film capturing this collaboration features Van Dijk, Vivendii founders Jimmy Ayeni and Ola Badiru, Dutch artist Amartey, and Nigerian artist Deto Black, as they explore the dynamic world of Afrobeats and its influence on fashion.
