Erling Haaland’s 10th hat-trick in his career contributed significantly to the Citizens’ triumph, bringing his total to 94 goals in 101 outings since joining the Etihad Stadium in the summer of 2022.

“He can compete with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in terms of goals . The numbers are unbelievable for his age. Haaland is an incredible threat, hopefully he can be here for many more years,” coach Pep Guardiola praised the Norwegian striker.

After two rounds of Premier League action this season, Haaland has four goals and remains a strong contender for the Golden Boot award for the third time in a row.

“I said a few weeks ago, Haaland feels better than in previous seasons. This season, without the Euros, relax and get to the finish line well.

“Last season, Haaland struggled a lot, especially at the beginning of the season. He felt tired and sore most of the time. This time, he doesn’t have to play in Euro 2024 so he starts the Premier League in a good spirit,” added coach Pep Guardiola.

When asked if Haaland is the most complete striker in football history, the Spanish strategist unexpectedly replied: “The most incredible striker I’ve ever seen is Messi.” I have never seen a better player than him.”

The second successive victory propelled Manchester City to the top of the standings. The next round will see Pep Guardiola’s club travel to West Ham on August 31.
