After Manchester United pulled their interest, Adrien Rabiot is now catching Liverpool’s eye in the relatively quiet summer transfer market of 2024.
Rabiot, who is a free agent following his decision to reject a Juventus contract extension earlier this summer, was previously on United’s radar. However, the club shifted focus to pursuing Manuel Ugarte. Meanwhile, Inter Milan and Bayern Munich have expressed interest but have yet to make any concrete moves. Liverpool has now entered the fray, eager to secure the 29-year-old midfielder.
According to Get Football News France, Liverpool sees Rabiot as a key addition to bolster their midfield, particularly under new manager Arne Slot. The club has had a subdued summer, missing out on several high-profile targets, including Martin Zubimendi. Despite Liverpool’s willingness to trigger Zubimendi’s release clause, the Euro 2024 champion chose to remain with Real Sociedad.
Liverpool’s pursuit of Rabiot doesn’t need to be rushed before the transfer window closes in early September since he’s available on a free transfer. The main obstacle is Rabiot’s financial demands. To bring him on board, Liverpool would need to offer a contract of at least four years with a weekly wage exceeding £200,000.
