Manchester City defeated Chelsea 2-0 in their Premier League opener. Erling Haaland and Mateo Kovacic scored the Citizens’ two goals. This is a solid start for Man “blue” in an expected stormy season.

Man City established an impressive record following this encounter. As a result, Pep Guardiola’s squad became the first in Premier League history to win ten straight games while scoring two or more goals. 

Man City also demonstrated their supremacy over Chelsea. They have gone unbeaten in ten successive matches against this opponent (eight wins and two draws). It is worth noting that Man “blue” is the first team to go unbeaten in ten straight games versus The Blue. 

Erling Haaland also achieved a personal milestone with his 100th appearance for Manchester City. The Norwegian striker has scored 106 goals for Manchester City during the last 100 games. This guy tallied 91 goals and 15 assists.

Haaland is another player who has a tendency for scoring goals in August. Since the 2022/23 season, Haaland has scored 13 goals in August, more than Chelsea (11 goals) and Manchester United (9 goals) during the same period.

Following the victory over Chelsea, manager Pep Guardiola stated, “I’m surprised with the result.” We weren’t at our best, so three points is a nice result. The bad news is that we have 65 games remaining.
