Erling Haaland, Manchester City’s goal hero, is so large that the Premier League winners had to create a super-sized treatment bed specifically for him.
Fellow City player Kyle Walker said that the 6ft 4in striker has been nicknamed Big E by his teammates.
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland needs a supersize treatment table, according to a teammate
Haaland is too enormous for the regular size treatment beds, spawning a new nickname.
Although Manchester City triumphed convincingly against Bournemouth to move to the top of the Premier League, coach Pep Guardiola was not pleased when Erling Haaland was hurt.
After his side’s victory over Bournemouth, the Spaniard told the BBC: “We didn’t want to take risks with him because of the twist in his ankle. He was uncomfortable. He’ll be back on Tuesday, maybe next Sunday.”
England defender Walker told Sky TV’s Saturday Social that Norwegian ace Haaland, 23, was given his new nickname after the table arrived in the club’s treatment area.
He explained: “He’s just massive, isn’t he?
“So that’s what we call him — Big E.
“We’ve had to buy a new bed in the treatment room because he doesn’t fit on the normal beds.
“He’s had to have his own special bed.”
.
Haaland has terrorised defenders with his stature and power, scoring 11 league goals so far this season.
This follows a remarkable first season at City after signing from Borussia Dortmund last summer, when he scored 52 goals in 53 appearances to help the club win the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup.
Despite his accomplishment, Walker claims the Norwegian lacks vanity and is “a good laugh.”
He added: “Obviously, he’s a superstar and, in the nicest way possible, he knows that but he’s not arrogant with that.”
Off the pitch Haaland likes to meditate and his trademark goal celebration is the Zen pose.
