Manchester United are apparently moving forward with their quest for a new No.6 this summer, conducting negotiations with Burnley over the potential transfer of Sander Berge.
Earlier this week, it was claimed that the Norwegian international was on United’s transfer radar following their decision to drop their interest in Manuel Ugarte. It is claimed that Paris Saint-Germain’s assessment of the Uruguay international has prompted the Red Devils to look elsewhere.
Berge is one of many prospective targets that new sporting director Dan Ashworth and Ineos are looking into. Monaco and France star Youssouf Fofana, Wolves’ Joao Gomes, and Sofyan Amrabat, who has yet to return to the club, have all been connected.
According to Sky Sports, United has begun negotiations with Burnley about Berge. According to reports, they are ‘exploring conditions’ for bringing Berge to Old Trafford. Other reports this week have suggested that the 26-year-old will cost around £30 million.
Berge is believed to be interested in a move to Old Trafford. Sky Sports reports that the midfielder wants to return to the Premier League after being demoted with Burnley.
There has also been an update on their pursuit of Fofana, who is currently in the final year of his contract in France. According to Dharmesh Sheth’s report, negotiations with Monaco over a potential agreement are still ongoing.
Before the end of the season, it was reported that Monaco maintained their £30.1 million (€35 million) value of the 25-year-old. AC Milan had been the frontrunner to sign the France international, but it is now alleged they have dropped their interest after failing to reach an agreement.
