It’s the teen’s most substantial contract to date. Prior to the upcoming football season, Mainoo has been preoccupied with other activities. He played a key role in England’s qualification to the European Championship final earlier this summer, as well as scoring in United’s FA Cup victory over Manchester City.
He has maintained contact with his American teammates, even if he has not resumed training with his childhood squad. United is primarily centred in Los Angeles, thus Mainoo has been lazing there rather than training with Erik ten Hag in the United States.
Mainoo has been improving his professional prospects off the pitch, but he will join the squad next week. On Saturday, he shared photos of himself signing a contract with Nike to Instagram with the message “Welcome Kobbie,” but said nothing.
Promotional photographs of Mainoo with the Nike tick insignia and the words “LA” beneath a pitch were also released. Even as he walks inside the headquarters, he is being photographed.
Even if Mainoo isn’t wearing Nike gear in every snap, he’s about to showcase the global powerhouses. On the other side, United’s current sponsor is Adidas, a competitor of Nike that manufactures their outfits.
Previously, in June, to promote the relationship, Mainoo flaunted Nike during a photo shoot. “[It’s] a dream come true,” he said back then. “Signing with them is a huge accomplishment.” He has made the partnership official.
United will probably be willing to offer Mainoo a new contract as well. Despite signing a three-year contract in February, he has the opportunity to cement his ascension to the top of the international game once more. This is in appreciation of his swift promotion to the team and his contributions as a midfield anchor since joining the squad in December 2023.
