Jadon Sancho is the talk of the summer, with discussions swirling around his potential return to the Premier League and his recent achievement of launching a signature collection with Nike at just 20 years old. We had the chance to speak with him about these developments, his England career, and his personal interests.
Receiving a signature collection is a rare honor, and Sancho’s impressive stats make it clear why he’s earned this recognition. With 19 goals and 18 assists in just 32 appearances across the Bundesliga and Champions League this season, his star is clearly on the rise. Despite his success, Sancho remains grounded, as evident from our conversation about his life, career, and signature collection.
On his recent downtime, Sancho shared, “It was great to spend time with family and friends and unwind. I don’t get to see them often, so it was nice to relax. By the end of my break, I was eager to get back to playing.”
He reflects on his achievements, saying, “It hits me most when I see my family, especially my mum, and their pride in me. I do everything for them and want to keep making them proud. Looking back on how far we’ve come, it’s a special feeling to share these moments with them, especially given our past challenges.”
As a sneaker enthusiast, Sancho didn’t add to his collection during lockdown. “I focused on my diet and relaxed. I spent a lot of time on PlayStation with friends, which kept me entertained throughout the pandemic.”
Sancho prefers to avoid media speculation, explaining, “I try not to pay attention to the media because it can be distracting. My focus is on improving every day and maintaining a positive attitude. I’d rather stay focused on my performance.”
Reflecting on recent months, Sancho describes the period as “interesting.” He notes, “The lack of fans was strange, but I made the most of it and even scored my first professional hat-trick in an empty stadium. I’m looking forward to having fans back.”
Regarding the delayed Euros, he says, “I was disappointed, but it gives me a chance to solidify my place in the England squad. There’s a lot of young talent, like Bukayo Saka and Mason Greenwood, and it’s exciting to see how they perform. The competition is healthy, and everyone is giving their best.”
On England’s young talent, Sancho highlights their energy and desire. “Young players bring fresh legs and a drive to excite the fans. We’re eager to showcase our skills and make the most of every opportunity.”
Sancho views his signature collection as a significant milestone. “It’s a way to inspire kids from my area. The design includes ‘Poppin out of Kennington’ and other personal touches, like the ‘No Ball Games’ sign, which reflects my background. It’s about representing where I come from and showing that if you believe in yourself, you can achieve great things.”
He adds, “The boot design also features ‘Megz’ and ‘Vibez,’ which represent my childhood experiences and love for football. It’s a great way to share my story.”
Sancho is proud to represent Kennington and hopes his collection will inspire others. “Kennington is special to me, and I want to show that anything is possible. If the boot does well, it’s a step towards more great things.”
Reflecting on his journey, Sancho credits leaving home early for his growth. “It was tough at first, but I learned that sacrifices are necessary for progress. Once I understood that, adapting to new situations became easier.”
Joining the ranks of players with signature releases, like CR7 and Mbappé, is a dream for Sancho. “It’s an honor to be alongside such players. Mbappé’s achievements are motivating, and Ronaldo’s career is incredible. I hope to follow in their footsteps and build a successful career.”
