The property is 40 acres and includes several buildings, stables, two man-made fishing lakes, and an orangery.

Rooney used his extensive grounds to roam around with old friend Neville for his appearance on The Overlap.

The newly-appointed Plymouth Argyle manager responded to 53 quick-fire questions from Neville, alluding to his England goalscoring record.

Throughout the talk, Rooney’s massive home could be seen looming in the background.

The mansion’s interior includes a TV room, billiards room, bar, wine store, theatre, gym and swimming pool, as well as an underground tunnel leading to a six-car garage.

Meanwhile, its grounds include man-made fishing lakes that can be crossed by a bridge.

The Cheshire property is one of a number of assets, including a £5 million Barbados home and a £300,000 Florida flat.

Mum-of-four Coleen, 38, is thought to want a second family home by the coast, but the Cheshire property will most likely remain their primary residence because their sons attend school there.

During his interview with Neville, Rooney revealed that his lowest point in football was his 2006 stamp on Ricardo Carvalho, which resulted in a red card during England’s quarter-final match against Portugal.

Speaking on The Overlap, brought to you by Sky Bet, he said: “The World Cup red card was my lowest point in sport.

“That was a difficult one because I remember walking into the changing room and thinking, if we get through, I’ll be suspended for the semi-final and final if we make it. If we don’t, it is your fault.

“It was horrible.”

“I’m not sure how it’s been done in the past, but fans will be able to attend open training sessions and truly feel like they’re a part of it. I am a coach who has nothing to hide.

“I believe that engagement with players, myself, and the fans is quite vital. I will be residing here.

“Fans will see me in restaurants and cafés all over the area. Feel free to come and say hello; I’m confident we’ll get along well.”
