Liverpool have entered the fray for England international defender Marc Guehi, currently with Crystal Palace, as they look to strengthen their defense this summer. The Sun reports that the Reds are keen on signing Guehi, who is valued at approximately £75 million (€89 million), but will face stiff competition from Newcastle United.
In addition to pursuing Guehi, Liverpool is also interested in Newcastle’s emerging talent, Anthony Gordon. It’s rumored that Liverpool might include Joe Gomez in a potential swap deal for Gordon. On the flip side, Newcastle is eyeing Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace as a possible replacement for Gordon, with Eze’s release clause set at £60 million (€71 million).
Despite a significant investment of nearly £100 million last summer on midfielders like Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch, Liverpool has yet to announce any new signings in this transfer window. The club has, however, bid farewell to Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara.
After a successful pre-season tour in the United States, capped by a notable victory over Manchester United, Liverpool will wrap up their pre-season campaign with a final friendly against Sevilla at Anfield on August 11.
