Despite Dominik Szoboszlai’s rapid success at Liverpool, some fans are playfully calling for his “immediate sale” after noticing his quirky choice of footwear.

Szoboszlai, who arrived from RB Leipzig this summer as part of a midfield makeover that also saw Alexis Mac Allister join from Brighton, has quickly become a fixture in Liverpool’s lineup. The team is currently atop the Premier League following an exciting 2-1 win over Crystal Palace. Yet, a few fans were more intrigued by his choice of sneakers as he boarded a flight to Belgium for Liverpool’s Europa League match against Union Saint-Gilloise.

Dressed in Liverpool training gear, Szoboszlai looked calm and stylish, but his pristine white Nike Air Force 1s attracted attention due to their unusually puffy ‘flump’ laces. The playful mockery on social media included comments suggesting the laces were fit for towing a barge or even a ferry. One fan joked, “Sell him immediately,” while others compared the laces to candy or declared they could secure anything from a canal boat to a historic ship.

Fortunately for Liverpool supporters, Szoboszlai’s future with the club is secure. Having signed a five-year deal this summer, he’s quickly adapted to life in the Premier League and will be aiming to keep up his impressive form when Liverpool faces Manchester United at Anfield this Sunday.
