Manchester United are anxiously awaiting news on Marcus Rashford’s condition, hoping he won’t join Rasmus Højlund and Leny Yoro on the injury list.
Striker Højlund is set to be sidelined for six weeks due to a hamstring injury. Winger Antony also faced an issue during the second half of the game; he came on as a substitute in the 62nd minute but had to leave the field again in the 86th minute.
After the match, Rashford was seen signing autographs for fans. Although he was walking without assistance and showed less of a limp compared to immediately after the injury, the club’s concerns remain.
Højlund was injured shortly after scoring the opening goal in Manchester United’s 2-1 defeat to Arsenal in Los Angeles last Saturday. Yoro also exited the match with an injury in the first half, marking a tough start to United’s US tour.
Manager Erik ten Hag had expressed hopes that the injury issues which plagued United last season were behind them. The club experienced 66 injury or illness cases last season, a factor Ten Hag believes contributed to their record-low eighth-place finish in the Premier League.
Højlund, who was acquired for £72 million from Atalanta, was expected to make a strong start this season after a challenging first year, during which he scored 16 goals, ten of them in the Premier League. By the end of the season, Ten Hag even chose not to use a striker rather than start Højlund in the FA Cup Final.
Now, Højlund will miss the first four Premier League games, while Yoro will be out for nine matches. Despite his injury, which has left Yoro with a protective cast and crutches, he has chosen to stay on the US tour to bond with his new teammates.
