Leny Yoro could be out for TWO MONTHS amid worries he has fractured his metatarsal in a huge blow for Man Utd, with the £59M signing sighted on crutches three days after limping off in defeat by Arsenal

Manchester United’s new £59 million signing, Leny Yoro, faces a lengthy layoff due to suspicions he has fractured a metatarsal.

Yoro suffered the injury only two games into his United career, limping out of last weekend’s pre-season friendly against Arsenal in Los Angeles.

The 18-year-old Frenchman, who arrived at Old Trafford from Lille two weeks ago, was spotted on crutches with his left foot in a protective boot at United’s training facility on Wednesday.

Yoro might be out for up to two months and miss the start of the season if he fractures his metatarsal.

United meet Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium on August 10 before opening the Premier League season at home against Fulham six days later.

There are fears he may have fractured a metatarsal, which could keep him out for two months.

With Lisandro Martinez yet to return to training after representing Argentina in the Copa America, manager Erik ten Hag may have to select between Harry Maguire, Jonny Evans, and Victor Lindelof in central defence.

However, United have been looking for a second centre-back this summer, having conducted negotiations with Bayern Munich about Matthijs de Ligt and having an upgraded proposal of £50 million for Jarrad Branthwaite rejected by Everton.

Rasmus Hojlund walked out of the Arsenal game in the first half with what appeared to be a hamstring injury, adding to United’s woes. However, Hojlund appeared to be moving rather freely following the contest, and it is hoped that his injury is not too serious.

The setbacks are reminiscent of United’s struggles on tour in the United States last summer, when Kobbie Mainoo and Amad Diallo had injuries that sidelined them until November and December, respectively.

Diallo injured his knee ligaments in the first tour game against Arsenal in New Jersey and needed surgery, while Mainoo broke his foot in a loss to Real Madrid in Houston and did not play for another four months.
