Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot is currently enjoying a holiday alongside his Portugal teammate Cristiano Ronaldo. The right-back, along with other United players, is taking a well-deserved break with friends and family before the start of pre-season training next month. According to the Manchester Evening News, United will be bringing players back to their Carrington training base in two phases. The non-international players are set to begin pre-season in early July, while those involved in recent international fixtures are expected back by July 10. United’s first pre-season friendly is scheduled for July 12 against Leeds United in Oslo, Norway.
Dalot recently featured in Portugal’s European Championship qualifiers, starting in their 1-0 victory over Iceland after being on the bench against Bosnia and Herzegovina earlier. Meanwhile, Ronaldo made headlines with his late winning goal against Iceland, marking his 200th appearance for Portugal and becoming the first male player to achieve this milestone. Ronaldo shared images on Instagram from his holiday, including one with Dalot onboard a boat.
Ronaldo rejoined United in August 2021 but departed a year later following a controversial interview where he criticized the club, manager Erik ten Hag, and the Glazer family. As for Dalot, he faces an important pre-season as he aims to regain his position from Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who occupied the right-back spot for much of the latter part of the 2022/23 season. Dalot will be keen to impress ahead of United’s season opener against Wolves on August 14.
