Varane has been without a club since leaving Old Trafford after his contract expired, and his final game for the Red Devils was the FA Cup final victory over Manchester City at Wembley.

Varane will rejoin with Cesc Fabregas, his former opponent in La Liga, but this time as a player and coach.

According to Romano, the former Real Madrid player is poised to join Serie A club Como, managed by former Chelsea and Arsenal ace Cesc Fabregas.

He went to X.com and wrote:

“Raphael Varane to Como: here we go! Documents are ready to be signed.

“Former Real Madrid and Manchester United center backs will play in Serie A under manager Cesc Fabregas.

“Understand Varane will sign a two-year contract until June 2026, with an option until 2027. “Exclusive story confirmed.”

It’s a coup for Como to secure a player of Varane’s level and calibre, and he joins former Premier League stars Pepe Reina and Alberto Moreno, who also joined the Serie A club this summer.

There is little doubt that Fabregas had a significant role in completing this transaction, and Varane will offer much-needed experience and a winning mindset, which will be critical to Como’s prospects of staying up next season.

Varane will compete directly for the spot alongside Jay Idzes, a centre-back who only became an Indonesian citizen this year. Jay Idzes was a regular at Como last season, making 30 appearances. His contract with Como runs until June 2027.

Como is anticipated to surprise in the Serie A next season. The team owned by the Indonesian owner wishes to reach out. Fabregas also owns interests in this club.

Varane has had a successful career, winning multiple Champions Leagues with Real Madrid and the World Cup with France, but it is unlikely that the newest chapter in his career will see him add to his trophy collection.
