Manchester United have reportedly reached an agreement with Manuel Ugarte for his transfer to the club. Following the acquisition of Leny Yoro, United are intensifying their efforts to secure Ugarte from the French league. The Uruguayan midfielder, who shares an agent with Yoro in Jorge Mendes, has agreed to personal terms despite United’s current inability to offer Champions League football, according to Fabrizio Romano. However, negotiations between Manchester United and PSG have not yet resulted in an agreement, as PSG is holding out for no less than £59 million for the 23-year-old, whom they signed for £42 million from Sporting Lisbon just last summer. PSG’s hesitation stems from their strategy of building a younger team without relying on established superstars. Although talks are ongoing, they are still in early stages despite progress on personal terms.
Another obstacle for United, led by their new INEOS recruitment team, is competition from other European and Premier League clubs that have expressed strong interest in Ugarte. Bayern Munich has inquired about the midfielder, while two Italian clubs and another Premier League team have also made contact with PSG regarding a potential deal. United may also need to sell another midfielder before finalizing Ugarte’s transfer, with Scott McTominay and Casemiro potentially departing. United has been active in the transfer market this off-season, having already secured deals for Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee.
