Most Premier League strikers might find scoring as many goals as they have abs slightly underwhelming.
However, judging by Darwin Nunez’s recent Instagram post, that might actually be a respectable return for his debut season in the Premier League. Liverpool confirmed the signing of the striker from Benfica last month in a deal that could potentially set a club record at £85 million.
The Uruguayan recently netted four goals in a friendly against RB Leipzig, signaling his readiness to make an impact in the Premier League.
His prolific goal-scoring form over the past couple of years could be attributed to his physical transformation since joining Benfica. Nunez showcased his new physique in a recent Instagram photo while enjoying a day off fishing with his new teammates during Liverpool’s pre-season training camp in Austria.
Aside from sporting more hair, Nunez now boasts increased muscle mass and at least two more visible abs compared to a similar photo posted in 2020. While Liverpool can’t take credit for his physical development in the short time he’s been with the club, they may aim to replicate the transformative impact seen at Bayern Munich in recent years.
Players like Robert Lewandowski, Leon Goretzka, and Alphonso Davies have significantly bulked up since joining the German champions. Judging from the muscular appearance of Nunez’s teammates in the fishing-themed Instagram photo, Liverpool seems to be fostering a similar environment.
Notably, the photo also captured their impressive catch – a massive fish that’s quite a sight to behold!
