Furious Jude Bellingham can’t disguise his frustration as he kicks a drinks cooler following England’s Euro 2024 final defeat by Spain… before characterising the outcome as ‘cruel’ and ‘heartbreaking’

Jude Bellingham couldn’t contain his rage following England’s shocking late defeat to Spain in the Euro 2024 final.

The Three Lions endured another painful final defeat at the European Championship, with Spain winning 2-1 thanks to Mikel Oyarzabal’s goal in the 86th minute.

At the final whistle, all of England’s players appeared upset, but the Real Madrid midfielder in particular.

He stormed off the pitch and kicked a drinks cooler in frustration and could be seen sat on the England bench looking towards the pitch, appearing to be in a very thoughtful mood.

Bellingham ultimately returned to the pitch, where he was comforted by England captain Harry Kane and manager Gareth Southgate.

Bellingham like many losing players in finals, swiftly took his medal off after the presentation

After the match, Bellingham described the defeat as ‘cruel’ and ‘heartbreaking’

‘To lose in that way is really cruel,’ he told reporters. ‘Again, we probably didn’t play our best game, but there were definitely some good moments and we felt like we got back into the game, and then to kind of be sucker-punched with the late goal… it’s heartbreaking.

‘We all wanted nothing more than to make history and to make the people of England proud and we never managed to do it, we didn’t quite deliver.’

After Nico Williams gave Spain the lead, the 21-year-old helped England equalise.

Bukayo Saka found the midfielder, who, despite being off balance, was able to pass it back to Cole Palmer for a fantastic equaliser.

Bellingham was also a significant reason England reached it to the final, as his magnificent overhead kick saved their last-16 tie against Slovakia in the dying stages of the game, forcing extra time.

After the game, his manager, Southgate, stated, “I think they were the best team in the tournament.” We didn’t keep the ball well enough, but we stayed in it till the end. I am devastated for everyone; the guys have been amazing, and I am very proud.

‘We had a little bit of momentum. Big chance at the end to equalise as well but I’m not sure we did quite enough.’
