According to friends, Rooney, who is shown below taking up the sun with wife Coleen on a vacation in Dubai, is “itching to get back to work”.

He was fired by Birmingham last month after only 13 weeks and two wins in 15 matches.

According to a source, Wayne’s stint in command at Birmingham has not deterred him from pursuing a management career. In fact, he believes he mastered a wide range of talents that will serve him well in the future.

“Wayne understands that he still has a lot to prove, but he believes he has what it takes to be a manager and would welcome the opportunity to coach a team in Saudi Arabia.

“He loved his time managing in America and thinks he could transfer a lot of those skills to the Arabian league.”

SunSport understands Rooney has been advised that mega-rich owners in the region are likely to show a considerable interest in him.

The England legend still dreams of managing in the Premier League

Securing the services of a superstar such as Rooney would be viewed as another step towards improving the league’s brand.

The source continued, “Having Wayne head a squad over there would bring more attention to the league and give it a boost.

The English icon still dreams of managing in the Premier League.

“The reputation has taken a hit since Jordan Henderson left. Rooney managing there would indicate that the league should be taken seriously.

“Wayne is still certain that he can establish himself to be a top-tier manager, and his goal remains clear: to manage in the Premier League someday. But he understands it won’t happen anytime soon.

Our news comes only days after Rooney was photographed soaking up the sun in Dubai as part of a luxurious vacation.

Wife Coleen shared images of the two in the Dubai desert, dressed in traditional headscarves.

Both wore sunglasses to shield their eyes from the intense desert sun while riding about in a vintage convertible 4×4.

As the sun set, they each traded their vintage car for a camel.

Coleen stated, “Always a special experience.”

Wayne was fired as Birmingham’s manager in early January, but he was allowed to spend time away with Coleen.

During his dismal 13-week stint, the famous Manchester United player won only two of his fifteen games.

Rooney announced in a statement after leaving Birmingham that he would take a break from football to spend time with his family before taking a new post.
