On Tuesday, the Mavericks revealed three new off-season recruits.
This summer, the team added Quentin Grimes, Naji Marshall, and Klay Thompson, a future Hall of Famer. The four-time NBA champion expressed his excitement on Tuesday about visiting Dallas-Fort Worth and immersing himself in the local culture.
“Dallas was so attractive because of the young players they have, the style of play, the world-class treatment these players get from this organisation, and [it’s] just a beautiful city that loves their hoops,” Thompson told ESPN.
NBA Klay Thompson joins the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.
Assistant general manager Michael Finley believes that all three players’ skill sets might have helped the Mavericks defeat the Celtics in the NBA Finals.
“It’s an exciting day for us to add these young men to our organization,” Finley told the crowd. “Every team in this league, with the exception of one, went into this summer hoping to improve. I believe that with the inclusion of these three young men, we are moving on the right path.
Thompson, 34, believes he still has a lot of basketball to play and will be a productive player for the Mavericks this season.
Dallas native Sha’Carri Richardson adorns Vogue’s digital cover ahead of the Paris Olympics.
“When I was watching the playoffs and I’m watching the Mavs make a run for the championship, I just saw myself fitting in really well with this team and the personnel,” Thompson informed reporters on Tuesday. “They appear to enjoy themselves; they play for one another, which appealed to me. That was all I truly needed to see. There was mutual interest, which is why I’m here.
The Mavericks’ offseason must be considered a success, as the team appears to be on track to win 50 games in 2024-25.
