And what had already been a disastrous night for the Al Nassr forward came dangerously close to becoming even worse.

A video from the stands spread on social media, showing a fan hopping over the barrier in the stands to get closer to Ronaldo as he walked down the tunnel.

However, without looking where he was heading, he jumped feet first at Ronaldo, coming within inches of taking out the 39-year-old.

Ronaldo appeared stunned at the chaotic moment, but he was shielded by a nearby steward who stepped in front of the star to keep him from being wounded.

The footage does not appear to show the fan seeking to damage Ronaldo, but rather attempting to get near to the hero.

It isn’t the first time supporters have crossed the queue to get near to Ronaldo during Euro 2024.

During Portugal’s 3-0 victory against Turkey last weekend, a large number of fans rushed onto the pitch in Dortmund.

Ronaldo posed for selfies with the young fans who wanted to get as near to a football great as possible.

And it wasn’t just during games that fans tried to get up close and personal with the former Manchester United and Real Madrid bagman. An initial 6,000 complimentary tickets were distributed to supporters prior to the session, allowing travelling fans to catch a peek of one of the tournament’s stars.

However, it has subsequently been reported that supporters are reselling the tickets online for more than £670.Ronaldo took a selfie with a young pitch invader during Portugal's win over Turkey7Ronaldo took a selfie with a young pitch invader during Portugal’s win over TurkeyCredit: Getty
