A surprising absence from Euro 24 may be Manchester City’s advantage next season.
One of the surprises heading into Euro 24 was Jack Grealish’s absence from Gareth Southgate’s England team for the tournament. While Grealish wasn’t at his best during the 23/24 season, he is a reliable asset for England. While it was surprising that he did not play in the European Championships, the entire circumstance may benefit Manchester City next season. 
As Manchester City won their fourth consecutive Premier League title last season, Jack Grealish struggled with poor form and niggling injuries. He went from being a vital contributor to City’s treble-winning season in 22/23 to sitting on the bench in the final stages of 23/24. Grealish is a key player for Pep Guardiola’s team when he is at his best. Grealish faces a challenge after a dismal 23/24 season and being left out of England’s Euro 24 squad. However, according to a new report, Grealish is prepared to take on the challenge. 

According to Harry Pratt and Tom Victor of the Mirror, Jack Grealish will return to Manchester City early to begin pre-season training. Furthermore, Pratt and Victor report that Grealish believes his lack of minutes at the close of last season contributed to his absence from the England squad. Manchester City’s players who are not competing in the Euros are scheduled to begin preseason training on July 9.

Jack Grealish appears to be determined to return to his best form next season. There is no doubt that Grealish is capable of regaining his place in Pep Guardiola’s starting lineup. He has already proved that he is well-suited to life at Manchester City.If his hunger and ambition return following a disappointing season, Manchester City will profit.  

At his best Jack Grealish makes the world champions a better team. He generates space for his teammates, and his movement and dribbling abilities are a huge advantage for City. While he had a subdued 23/24 season it can recapture his best form he can quickly return to Pep Guardiola’s starting eleven.

According to the Mirror, Grealish is determined to regain his peak performance. A disappointing summer for the winger could be to Manchester City’s gain if he does find his best form next season.
