England lost their match against Denmark 1–1, which prevented them from moving on to the EURO 2024 group stage.
On June 20, in the evening, England will play Denmark in the second match of the EURO 2024 group stage. The same team that defeated Serbia was retained by head coach Gareth Southgate. Harry Kane gave the “Three Lions” the lead in the eighteenth minute. Kyle Walker broke into the penalty area and crossed. The ball rebounded out after striking a Danish player, and Kane was there to score at the perfect moment.
But, similar to the game against Serbia, England initiated the retreat after gaining the upper hand. As a result, Denmark applied intense pressure to the other team’s pitch. In the 34th minute, Denmark’s Morten Hjulmand fired a long-range effort from 22 metres that rattled goalie Pickford’s net.
The Danish national team and England drew 1-1.The two teams were deadlocked 1-1 at the end of the first half. In the second half, the England team appeared deadlocked despite having a star-studded squad. Coach Gareth Southgate started Eze, Bowen, and Watkins on the pitch in place of Harry Kane, Foden, and Saka. These modifications are still ineffective, though. England and Denmark tied 1-1 after 90 minutes.
England lost the chance to advance straight to the group stage with this draw. England won’t have to wait for the last group stage encounter against Slovenia if they defeat Denmark and advance to the next round. Now, though, manager Gareth Southgate and his group will have to wait till the last game.
