Some of the top players on the continent will be watching the Euros from thousands of miles away, even though the competition begins in little more than 24 hours.
After a demanding season, several European players have already started their summer vacations while their countries compete for the highest prize in Europe.
A fortnight ago, Mail Sport assembled an elite squad of players who will not be competing in Germany this summer.
Some of them were ruled ineligible or their nations did not make the tournament, while others were unable to compete due to injuries.
So, what are they up to now?

Goalkeeper: Thibaut Courtois
After being beset by ailments all season, the Real Madrid goalie was left out of Belgium’s roster. Before rupturing his meniscus, he tore his ACL at the beginning of the season.
Seeing him left out after he started the Champions League final and returned to full shape was unexpected.
However, Courtois was beaming lately as he and his wife played golf in a beautiful, sunny location.

Pedro Porro, Defender
Tottenham’s Porro withstood the agony of being left out of Spain’s preliminary team.
The 24-year-old has been lounging about Menorca, one of the Mediterranean Sea’s Balearic islands in Spain, and was spotted with his lover on a jet boat.

Hummels, Mats, Defender
The seasoned player, who had a strong season and was instrumental in Borussia Dortmund’s route to the Champions League final, was unexpectedly left out of Julian Nagelsmann’s team.
Hummels was recently photographed grinning broadly beside a beach club pool, despite his disappointment at maybe losing out on the opportunity to win a European championship at home.

Alaba, David, Defender
Captain of Austria David Alaba will not be playing this summer after sustaining an ACL injury in December while playing for Real Madrid.
But he’s travelled with his teammates to offer moral support from the bench as Ralf Rangnick’s team looks to stun Europe after a run of outstanding play.

Mike Olise plays right midfield.
Despite an outstanding season for the Eagles, the Crystal Palace winger was not selected for France’s roster; he is still qualified to play for England.
With Tyrick Mitchell, Olise took a late May flight to New York and appeared to be living in his fashionista days, dressed all in black and sporting goggles.

Middlefield: Martin Odegaard
Norway did not make the Euros, hence the Arsenal captain will not be playing.
Recently, Odegaard was photographed overseas with former Spain midfielder Cesc Fabregas.
He previously went on a quick breakaway with Kai Havertz, a Gunners teammate who is expected to lead the line for Germany.

Centre-midfield: Gavi
Though the 19-year-old Barcelona star Gavi was supposed to be one of the bright lights of the Euros, he will have to wait another four years after sustaining a catastrophic knee injury in Spain’s qualifying victory over Georgia back in November.
As seen by his hard effort at Barca’s training facility, Gavi has shown his great resolve to get back into shape before the new season, unlike many of his colleagues who have taken holidays.

Left-midfield: Jack Grealish
The Manchester City forward was surprisingly left out of England’s squad despite making the provisional list.
Grealish is well-known for his party antics, and he wasted no time in jetting off to Dubai this week. As reported by The Sun, he enjoyed some booze and at one point needed a helping hand as he made his way through a luxury hotel.

Forward: Marcus Rashford
Rashford paid the price after a poor season for Manchester United as he wasn’t even selected for England’s provisional squad by Gareth Southgate.
He was recently spotted dancing at an exclusive beach bar restaurant in Cannes and onlookers said the 26-year-old dined out at the Baoli restaurant with up to 12 friends where they claim he spent around £3,700 on drinks and food on Saturday.

Frontrunner: Viktor Gyokeres
The striker for Sporting Lisbon had an outstanding season, scoring 43 goals in 50 games played for the Portuguese team in every tournament.
Gyokeres, who was spotted poolside while on holiday with friends and family, has had the opportunity to completely recharge because Sweden was unable to qualify for the event.

Erling Haaland, Forward
Like his international colleague Odegaard, the prolific scorer will not be playing in Germany because Norway was not able to qualify.
Haaland was photographed earlier this week lounging about Saint-Tropez, France.
His father Alfie, who played in the Premier League for Nottingham Forest, Leeds and City throughout his career, was also present when he was seen on a yacht with pals in the opulent vacation area.
Not many days had passed since Haaland had been seen having a wild time at an Ibiza club.
