Man Utd star Harry Maguire was spotted relaxing at luxury five-star spa hotel in Turkey where suites can cost up to £6,400 a night after being left out of Gareth Southgate’s England team

After being left out of Gareth Southgate’s Euros squad, England star Harry Maguire was photographed enjoying a lavish five-star hotel break in Turkey.

The Manchester United centre-back, who has 63 caps for his nation, was enjoying cocktails by the pool at the Maxx Royal Belek resort yesterday.

He was there with his family after being left out of England’s selection for the 2024 European Championship in Germany, which starts tomorrow.

He was photographed visiting the Maxx Royal Belek resort in Turkey, spending time with his family.

A suite costs £554 per night, or £865 for a two-bedroom family room, while the most premium accommodations cost up to £6,400 each night.

A fellow holidaymaker who saw Maguire said: ‘He is in extremely good spirits.

‘He seemed quite relaxed. He must have booked the vacation at the last minute; they only announced the squad a few days ago.’

Maguire, 31, had previously been a key member of Southgate’s squad, scoring in both the 2018 World Cup and the previous European Championship in 2021.

However, he has been plagued by a calf injury in recent months, causing him to miss Manchester United’s FA Cup final win over Manchester City on May 25.

After being left out of England’s official team last weekend, Maguire expressed his disappointment on Instagram.

He commented, ‘I am sad not to have been selected to play for England at the Euros this summer.

Despite my best efforts, I have been unable to recover from a calf injury.

Maguire, seen playing for England against Brazil in March, has earned 63 caps for his country.

He wrote an Instagram message after being left out of Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 squad.

‘Maybe I tried too hard to make it. Simply put, I am gutted. For me, representing England is the biggest honour. This means everything to me.

‘If I can’t help the squad as a player, I’ll support them as a spectator, just like the rest of the country.

‘Go and win it, boys. Next, I’ll return to the Manchester United medical team to prepare for the upcoming season.

He wasn’t the only high-profile departure; Southgate also let go Manchester City’s Jack Grealish and Tottenham Hotspur’s James Maddison.

Liverpool’s Jarell Quansah and Curtis Jones, Burnley’s James Trafford, and Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite were among those cut from an initial 33-player roster.

Southgate maintained the players handled their rejections’respectfully’.

He stated: “All players will believe they should be in; that is why they are top players.” They have that mindset.

‘The truth is, we have some players who have been playing exceptionally well all season, and we believe other players have had stronger seasons, particularly in the last six months or so.

Southgate also dropped Tottenham Hotspur midfielder James Maddison from the Euro 2024 team.

‘We are fortunate to have a variety of attacking options, each of which provides something unique. Madders and Jack both offer something unique, making their decisions difficult.

As a staff, we have gone over it several times to ensure fairness. We stand by our decisions, but we realise that we could have taken a different path. Both boys have tremendous personalities and lovely to work with.

On Maguire’s exclusion, England manager Gareth Southgate said: ‘Harry has made some improvement, but it’s been complicated.

‘Given that the remainder of the back line isn’t fully healthy, we need players who are ready to go right away.

‘Another difficult decision; you know how I feel about Harry Maguire for England and what he’s done for me as a manager.’

Grealish has been dealing with his Euros disappointment by going on holiday to Dubai with his brother Kevan and a group of friends.

Kevan posted images of the site online, and Jack is said to be arranging a separate getaway with his long-term companion Sasha Attwood.
