Harry Maguire recently disclosed that he won’t be gracing the field with the England national team during Euro 2024 due to an ongoing ankle injury.
A familiar face in England’s lineup under the helm of Gareth Southgate, Maguire’s absence marks a notable shift as the team gears up for the Euro 2024 tournament in Germany from June 15 onwards.
Taking to social media, Maguire expressed his deep disappointment at missing out on the opportunity to represent his country on the grand stage of Euro 2024. Despite his relentless efforts, his ankle injury remains a hindrance.
In his heartfelt message, Maguire conveyed his immense pride in wearing the Three Lions jersey and the profound honor it holds for him. He pledged his unwavering support to his teammates, urging them to forge ahead and seize victory for the nation.
Harry Maguire updated on his Facebook:”I am devastated not to have been selected to play for England at the Euros this summer.
Despite my best efforts, I have not been able to overcome an injury to my calf. Maybe I pushed myself too hard, to try and make it. Simply, I am absolutely gutted.For me, representing England is the highest honour. It means everything to me. If I can’t help the team as a player, I will support them as a fan – along with the rest of the country. Go and win it boys.Next, I will return to the supervision of the Manchester United medical team in order to prepare for next season.”
Looking ahead, Maguire intends to focus on his recovery under the care of Manchester United’s medical team, preparing himself for the challenges of the upcoming season.
