Vinicius Junior was voted Champions League player of the season by UEFA on Monday, after leading Real Madrid to European triumph, while colleague Jude Bellingham received the young player award.

Vinicius, a Brazilian forward, scored six goals and assisted five times in Real’s successful season, including the second in the 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund in the final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

Real Madrid won the European Championship for the 15th time in a row.

“I’m very happy to be able to win another Champions League with this club, which has given me so much,” Vinicius, 23, said.

Bellingham, an England midfielder, was voted Champons League young player of the season following a remarkable debut season with the Spanish club.

The 20-year-old scored four goals and assisted five times in the Champions League for Real Madrid, which also won the Spanish league championship.

“I can’t put it into words,” he admitted. “This is the best night of my life.” It has to be up there in terms of the best season.”
