Belgium will seek to establish that they can still compete with the best of Europe in Euro 2024, despite the fact that their “golden generation” has largely passed.
Given their quality, the Red Devils were often seen as underachievers. They finished third at the 2018 World Cup in Russia and quarterfinalists in the previous two European Championships, but they never reached a final, let alone won a major title.
With Eden Hazard, Toby Alderweireld, Vincent Kompany, Mousa Dembele, and Dries Mertens gone, Domenico Tedesco and his squad have different expectations coming into Euro 2024 in Germany.
However, there is still a lot of hope at home that they will be able to compete in the later stages of the event and possibly win a large piece of cutlery for the first time.
