Manchester United’s interest in securing RB Leipzig’s playmaker Dani Olmo has intensified, according to the latest report from Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo.
With plans to overhaul their squad this summer, the Red Devils are eyeing reinforcements, with an attacking addition a key priority.
Olmo has been on United’s radar for some time now, and Mundo Deportivo suggests that the club has begun to actively pursue his signature in the current transfer window.
Currently, Olmo’s contract includes a release clause of €60 million (£51m), which remains valid until the middle of July.
Despite Olmo’s impressive contributions during the 2023/24 season with Leipzig, where he notched eight goals and five assists in 25 appearances from wide attacking positions, there are reservations about United making a move for him.
While he offers versatility in various attacking roles and has demonstrated his ability to create chances, concerns linger over his injury-prone nature. Olmo has missed a significant number of games due to injuries in the past season and previous campaigns, raising doubts about his long-term fitness.
Given United’s current injury woes, pursuing Olmo could be seen as a risky endeavor. Despite his undeniable talent, the potential financial outlay and uncertainty surrounding his fitness make him a gamble for the club to consider carefully.
